How to Setup and Use WPCargo SMS Integration Add-on with Twilio

WPCargo can now send an automated message on your client’s to see the updates of there shipments!

WPCargo SMS Addon is now integrated with Twilio. In order to connect and send SMS notification through Twilio, please follow the following steps.

  1. Create an account with Twilio.
  2. Login to your account and generate Twilio  API and credentials. You can checkout the steps HERE.
  3. Go to twilio console and copy the following details
    1. Account SID – this is your twilio account identification necessary to conect with Twilio API
    2. Auth Token – this will serve ass password for your site to connect with Twilio
    3. Twilio Number – this is your twilio registered number. You can use the free trial number for testing. However, you need to purchase a twilio number in order to send notification to unverified/unregistered mobile numbers.
  4. Enable countries for messaging if necessary. Twilio provides our users with the ability to send outbound SMS messages globally. Your project is set by default to only allow messages to be sent to your home country, which is determined by the phone number you verified during signup. If you’d like to enable new countries to send SMS messages to, please modify your permissions from the Messaging Geographic Permissions. You may check out documentation HERE.
  5. After setting up your twilio account, you are now ready to configure your SMS Notification.

 

CONFIGURATION WITH WPCARGO

  1. Login to your website, then go to WPCARGO>SMS Settings.
    1. Activate SMS
    2. Check all the shipment status you wish to send SMS Notification.
    3. Choose TWILIO as SMS Gateway.
    4. Enter API Username / Account Email / Account SID. Note: You can use the test SID during testing.
    5. Enter API Password / Auth Token / API Key / Access Key. Note: You can use the test Auth Token during testing.
    6. Enter the User ID / Device ID / Sender ID / Registered Mobile Number and Sender ID. Both field should have the same value.
    7. Configure your receiver. During testing, please use a registered twilio number or verified number. Please refer here on how to add verified phone number.
      NOTE: You can only send notification to verified twilio number using your free trial account. In order to use merge tags for the SMS Notification, you need to purchase a twilio number.
    8. Configure message notification.
    9. Save settings.
  2. In order to make sure that SMS Addon is configured correctly and fully functional, please do some testing.
